Winterlicious @ R & D

R&D ( Rebel and Demon ) is a restaurant that I had been to before, but this year I really wanted to try their Winterlicious menu. We decided to go for lunch and would I would definitely go again. Owned by Eric Chong, MasterChef winner and Michelin-starred chef and MasterChef judge, Alvin Leung.  This time we actually got the chance to sit at the Chefs Table and talk to Eric. I was a huge fan of him while he was competing on MasterChef Canada, so this was really exciting. Made my experience at R&D all the more enjoyable.

Appetizer – Glass Noodle Salad (vegetarian)

dsc_0605

Each course was amazing and something unique. The cold noodle salad was so refreshing and full of flavour. I liked the choice of vegtables they used here. Topped with a sweet miso vinaigrette, this appetizer was overall a good pick!

Entree – Seafood Curry

I had never tried seafood curry before but this one will be hard to beat! They load the rich and creamy curry with seafood, I was impressed with the amount of food they give with the lunch for Winterlicious. This dish does not actually come with the coconut rice, it was an additional cost. Although this really did bring the dish all together, I couldnt imagine the curry without it.

Dessert – Sticky Toffee Pudding (vegetarian) OR Lychee Panna Cotta

The Toffee Pudding was not much of a pudding. I was not expecting the cakeyness consistancey of the “pudding” , but I loved it! Huge size dessert, big enough to share. Steamed Malaysian date cake, maple caramel, vanilla ice cream and pineapple. This was a great choice. I also got to try the Lychee Panna Cotta with Macerated blackberries, housemade granola with ginger. This was light but an amazing dessert, i actually prefered this one over the Toffee Pudding.

Peace Treats – Ossington, Toronto

This weekend, I went to the cutest treat shop @ The Peace Collective store on Ossington. I had seen Peace Treats on Instagram and was attracted to their colourful and fun feed. They specialize in gourmet milkshakes and every month they will be adding a new treat!

Without a doubt, Peace Treats will become the “I have to go here” spot, especially for an Instagram post of these creative milkshake masterpieces. It was visually and tastefully satisfying, I can’t wait to go back and try the other items on the menu. The prices are reasonable for something so heavenly and delicious. I got the Go Shawty It’s Your Birthday and the D.R.E.A.M shakes.

Check out Peace Treats on 131 Ossington Ave.

Weslodge Saloon – Toronto

On Saturday, Family and I went to try out the Weslodge Saloon for dinner. We all decided to go with the prefixed Summerlicious menu

This was amazing! I went with the Weslodge Chop Salad to start. This was super fresh and delicious, I am so happy I chose this as my starter. For my main….I ordered the Rainbow Trout, this was cooked to perfection. So flavourful!  Not really much on the plate other than the fish and a small amount of kale, but it was amazing quality. Lastly for desert, I got the chocolate tart… And oh my god was it amazing!!! It was so rich and smooth, I would go back just for that reason alone.

I would go back to Weslodge for drinks for sure, the atmosphere is super cool and the drink menu is 10x larger than the food menu. This is a great place to come with friends and family. The staff were all super friendly and acomadating, when it came to gluten free options. They really take extra care at Weslodge Saloon, feels nice to know that most of the Summerlicious menu was Gluten Free friendly.
